Donated bikes are our lifeblood.
Simply drop off any bike that you no longer use or want. We’ll make any necessary repairs, make sure they are in safe working order and transform it into the gift of recreation and transportation.
Don’t worry if the bikes you’d like to donate aren’t working or all in one piece. We’re called RECYCLE Bicycle for good reason, we will put whatever you donate to good use.
We will also take any helmets, bike parts, accessories, tools, or furnishings for the bike shop, that you’d like to donate.
Trash to Treasure
We are Recycle Bicycle Harrisburg because we believe no bicycle should find its way to a landfill. Of course getting the word out to people to bring bikes to us is one way to prevent this. However, some folks don’t know about or can’t get a bike to us. So the bike may end up at the end of the driveway for the trash to pick up.
We have great volunteers and friends of RBH who keep a look out for these bicycles and snatch them up and bring them to us. Some of these bikes are in great shape and are perfect for someone else. These discarded bikes are our treasures.
If you see a bicycle in someone’s trash, grab it. If it’s questionable, meaning it’s close to the trash can but you’re not really sure if it’s meant for trash. Knock on the door and ask the owner if it’s ok to take the bike. Many people run around neighborhoods and look for metal to take to the scrap yard. They aren’t concerned about whether a bicycle is worth riding again. But we are! Even if it’s not rideable, it’s worthy for parts. And after parts are removed, we will scrap the metal and use that money to pay our bills.
Donation Pickups
If you have a number of bicycles to donate or are unable to transport them to Recycle Bicycle Harrisburg, we are often able to schedule a time to pick up donations at your location. To request a pick up, call us or email donate@RBHburg.org. Someone from Recycle Bicycle Harrisburg will be in contact with you to make arrangements.
West Shore Bike Drop Off Locations
We prefer that bike donations be dropped off at our shop at 1722 Chestnut Street in Harrisburg. But, if you are unable to bring the bicycles to us, we have some alternate drop off locations on the West Shore.
Mechanicsburg – 825 Fairfield Street
This location is on the West end of town, one street back from Market. Please put the bikes to the left of the garage.
